He was born in Chambéryon March 21, 1933.
He was Director of the Pacific Nuclear Experimentation Centers between 1985 and 1987, and of the DGSE between 1987 and 1989, and was behind the creation of the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DRM)2.
He participates in the activities of Pierre Sellier's companies (Salamandre). According to David Dufresne, "among the men who joined Salamandre's board of directors from the intelligence services, several names stand out: General François Mermet (ex-DGSE ) and Michel Lacarrière, former chief of staff to the director of counter-espionage".
He was made a Grand Officer in the National Order of the Legion of Honor on October 5, 1990 byFrançois Mitterrand.
